In July of 2013 I founded A.S.R.A. Packaging Consultants to provide Consultancy services to the Local and International Flexible Packaging Market. The services include advice on Color Management, Prepress Management, Wastage Control, Root Cause Analysis, Packaging Innovation, Packaging Development, Project Management, Analysis of Capex, Opex , Operational & Sales Planning,OEE for Existing Packaging Facilities, Marketing Strategy, Product Range development, and Pricing Strategy.

1) Kompass Pakistan Private Limited. One of the Premier suppliers of Flexible Packaging Material in Pakistan converting 12000 tons/annum employing 535 people. A Flexographic pioneer for the last 30 years also with facilities for Rotogravure, Lamination, Slitting, Bag-Making, Extrusion, Kodak Plate Making and Datwyler Engraving Line.

2) Korozo Ambalaj based in Istanbul, Turkey. Korozo is the largest flexible packaging supplier in Turkey and 8th largest in Europe converting 90,000 tons/annum employing 1600 people. They have 9 Flexographic Machines, 6 Rotogravure machines, Slitting, Bag making, Flexographic Plate Making, Datwyler Engraving lines, Lamination and Extrusion.

3) Veepee Group Of Industries based in Lagos, Nigeria. The largest Flexible Packaging firm in West Africa converting 100,000 tons/annum employing 4000 people. They have Flexographic and Rotogravure Printing, Extrusion, Lamination, Slitting, Bag Making, Plate Making and Engraving Lines.

4) Cherat Packaging. One of the largest conglomerates in Pakistan has decided to invest in Flexible Packaging. The project was initiated in 2016 and production will commence in 2018. The project will include Flexographic Printing and Rotogravure Printing Machines, Solvent based and Solvent Free Lamination, 5 Layer Blown P.E. Extrusion Lines, Slitting, Flexographic and Rotogravure Prepress. Total Project Investment 30 Million US dollars.

In this area I can provide options based on your machinery and raw material to help you achieve their targets.

4) I can help you source better adhesives, inks, films to further improve your end product while keeping cost at par.

5) I can carry out a Gap analysis in your organisation which would help highlight the Gaps in your systems and also provide solutions required.

6) Focus on your HR resources and highlight whether you have enough or too many people and are they qualified for the positions they presently hold.

7) As the pressure on Profit Margins has been mounting one of the major trends has been to move products from Rotogravure to Flexographic printing. This will be a game changer for Converters in Countries where Rotogravure is dominant. The advances in Flexographic pre-press has been significant and the print results are very close to Rotogravure. This is another area I can help in.

8) The trend towards high barrier films is growing. This is another aspect of my services as high barrier films need to be converted very carefully.

9) Down gauging of Films is also a fast growing trend. This requires expertise as Down gauging can only be successful if you are able to retain the properties of the original film at lower microns. This is another service I can provide.

With close to 3 decades of experience in the Plastics and Packaging Industry in Pakistan and Internationally I bring a unique perspective to the Plastic and Packaging arena.

Kompass Pakistan Private Ltd.

Director Technical & Marketing – July, 2016 to August, 2017

After an Exciting Year as Technical Consultant to Korozo Ambalaj. I have been fortunate enough to be appointed as Director Marketing and Technical at Kompass Pakistan. Kompass Pakistan is one of the largest Flexible Packaging Converters in Pakistan. Kompass Pakistan presently possess W& H Flexographic and Rotogravure printing machines, a Hell and Datwyler Engraving Plant, Comexi and Nordmechanica Solvent and Solventless Laminators, W&H 3 layer Varex P.E. line, High speed slitting machines, bag making facilities. Future investment in the next 12 months will include 5 and 7 layer P.E. lines and a Metallizer. Kompass is the primary supplier to P&G, Colgate Palmolive, Unilever and to the largest local FMCG companies. My aim with the Kompass Pakistan team is make Kompass a worldwide flexible packaging supplier.

KOROZO AMBALAJ. ISTANBUL, TURKEY

Korozo Ambalaj is the largest Flexible Packaging Converter in Turkey and one of the largest in Europe and Asia. The annual turnover is over 200 Million Euros and they employ over 1600 people. I have been hired as a Consultant for their Flexible Packaging Department presently focusing on their Rotogravure Printing Machines.

Metatex Private Limited.

Director Production & Supply Chain- January, 1992 to October, 2013.

I was employed by Metatex Pvt. Ltd one of the largest flexible packaging converter in the Subcontinent from January, 1992 to October, 2013. Metatex employs 635 people, converts over 600 tons of packaging materiaI monthly and had a turnover of over US 30 Million. I started as a Operations/Production Trainee in 1992 and by 2001 I had been appointed as the Director Production/Supply Chain/Operations. I was with my team which included the Technical Director and Marketing Director responsible for increasing our Market Share from 20% to 60% from 2001 onwards and increasing our production from 100 tons monthly to 600 tons monthly. Metatex is the primary supplier to Unilever, P&G, Colgate Palmolive, Danone, Kraft Foods, and Mondelez. During my years at Metatex I have gained experience in Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Production Planning, Human Resource, Supply Chain, Plastics, and Packaging.
